wavesWe've been on our Antarctic adventure cruise for a few days now, and we just finished crossing the Drake Passage.  It was terrible.  The Drake Passage is always the most difficult part of the trip.  The waters are VERY rough and almost every passenger on the ship had a tough time.  It's so bad that even when you're lying in bed, the motion of the ocean will make you slide around.  It's crazy.

I felt really bad for Renee because as the ship's doctor, she had to dispense meds and give shots to everyone else, but she was completely seasick herself.  In fact, on two separate occasions, she puked in the other people's bathrooms.  When she finally made it back to our room, she was crying because she didn't think she could handle it.  Then she puked again in OUR bathroom.  Now she had vomit breath (naturally), and this put ME over the top.  I then proceeded to puke in my mouth, but luckily I was able to hold it in and make it to the toilet in time to let it ALL out (breakfast, lunch, AND dinner).  It felt so good to puke, but it was really gross because it was splashing back up in my face.  Eeewwwww.  Oh yeah, I also need to mention that this was on December 31st.  So, basically, Renee and I both puked our guts out on New Year's Eve, and we didn't even have one drop of alcohol.

It took two full days to get through the Drake Passage, and we slept about 20 hours each day.  Our bodies were SO tired.  We couldn't get enough sleep.  I couldn't understand it.  My guess is that our bodies were working overtime to try to stay balanced, and it wore us out bigtime.  I'm not looking forward to going back through the Drake Passage to get home, but this time I'm going to overload on the drugs with the hope that it will knock me out for two days.
