jalzee So, my sister Jessica and her boyfriend Mike got engaged this month!!  Yes, my little sister is all grown up now and is busy preparing for her wedding next year.  Mike has brought a lot of joy into her life, and Marcus and I couldn't be happier for the two of them.  My parents really like Mike too, which is a total blessing considering what Marcus and I had to go through to get their approval of us.  Yes, once again, I paved the road for my little sister!  (okay I guess God had a little something to do with it too, so I can't take all the credit)  We look forward to meeting the guy who has made my sister so happy.  Hopefully, we'll get a chance to meet him before the wedding!  Either way, we want Mike to know he is welcome in the Chang family.  I know my dad is looking forward to having another male in the fam!  My mom thinks it's cool how the two sisters, who have the same first initial, will marry guys also with the same first initial.  We will both be M & J's - Marcus and Jocelin, Mike and Jessica - I guess Mike was meant to be!

brieannSpeaking of getting married, one of my coworkers at NAMC, Brieann, had a bachelorette party and bridal shower this month.  We had a girl's night out at Trudy's for dinner and then some of the girls went out dancing downtown afterwards.  Then the next week, Brieann's aunt threw her a bridal shower at her beautiful home off of 360.  Both parties were a great time of celebrating this milestone with little Brie-Brie!  We have to do more girl's night outs in the future!

amber Our good friend Truman moved to New Orleans this month after being in Austin forever!  It was sad saying farewell to Truman, but this will definitely give us an excuse to visit New Orleans in the coming year.  We also got to meet his new girlfriend, Amber, before he moved, so we are thankful for that.  We look forward to getting to know her better in the future!

batsMy cousins from New York, Jason & Jacob, came to visit us.  We had a great time with them enjoying the outdoors, catching the bats under the Congress bridge, shopping at San Marcos, eating at some great Austin restaurants, and of course just hanging out and catching up with each other.  The last time we saw them was September 2002.  We even had the pleasure of meeting a new cousin, Annie and her boyfriend Chris, who are both in the army and both go to Texas A&M.  They drove in just to hang out with Jason & Jacob, and I'm so glad we got to meet them.  We had a good time in Longhorn town even though Annie & Chris are both Aggies.

timWe had a special treat this month as our friend Tim, who has been in Asia, came back to the States and was able to share with some of us in Austin the awesome things God has done and is doing there still.  Listening to Tim, our present day Paul, share of how God is moving in Asia was such an encouragement to us, especially as Marcus and I plan to shepherd a community group at our church this coming fall.  It reminded us that God uses the weak to lead the strong and that we don't need to worry about whether or not we are going to be able to handle this responsibility on our own b/c we CAN'T.  What's amazing is that we don't have to handle it on our own.  It will be God's strength and power in us through His Holy Spirit that accomplishes His will for our community group.  What an encouragement and a relief!
